Facebook Fan Page

As some of you already know, I recently started a Facebook Fan Page for the upcoming novel.

If you’re already on Facebook and you’d like to become a fan, just click here and it will send you over to the A Kiss in Times Square Fan Page.

Ideally, I would like nothing more than to go the ‘traditional route’ in regards to publishing the book. In other words, I’d send out a dozen or so query letters (or e-mails) to literary agents in New York City.

A few days later I’d get a response, asking for some sample chapters or perhaps, if I’m lucky, the entire manuscript. I’d send over the requested pages via Fed Ex or e-mail and a few days later I’d sign with a gung-ho agent.

She’d immediately send out the manuscript to several publishers. The next day she’ll give me the incredible news that she already has some ‘strong interest’.

A bidding war will ensue over the course of a long weekend, and finally, on Monday morning, just as I’m sitting down to my desk at work, I’ll get the phone call that will change my life forever: my agent informing me that she’s just sold my debut novel for a cool million dollars.

Impossible? Maybe but that’s exactly how Nicholas Sparks started his amazing career when he sold his debut novel ‘The Notebook’.

I’d like to think of myself as very confident rather than cocky when it comes to eventually getting this book in front of as many readers as possible.

And as I’m beginning to find out (better late than never), when you believe in yourself good things tend to happen.

I believe the toughest part of selling a novel and actually launching a career is the writing of the novel. But once that’s done I do realize that it will still be a real challenge to get this book into the hands of the right literary agent, much less a publisher.

That’s exactly why I think a good blog, web page (coming soon), and Facebook Fan page are so crucial to marketing AKITS.

I think having a lot of fans will help build plenty of credibility in the eyes of a potential literary agent and even publisher. So, as always, I appreciate all of your support.

I can’t guarantee all of my Facebook Fans a free copy of the finished product (eventually I do have to begin to recoup some of my marketing and printing costs).

But for some of you who have a very good eye and consider yourself to be ‘well read’ (you know who you are), I may be willing to get you an advance copy of  the final draft before it heads off to the Big Apple.

That is, if you’re willing to play book critic for one long weekend of proofreading, armed with a highlighter and red pen (of course).

Believe me, I can always use another set of eyes on every single page before I finally put this thing to bed. . . Thanks again!
